Looking Good Without Make-Up

Looking good and feeling great when wearing no make up isn’t something we can all do. A lot of celebrities such as Kim Kardashian look great without make up because their skin is a great colour and they are blessed with no discolouration but for the average person removing your make up can be a difficult task.

I remember when my boyfriend saw me without make up for the first time and I was so scared to show my skin underneath, so this blog is if you want to be able to have a make up free day and still look good.

Step 1:
We all know the benefits of drinking lots of water and eating fruit and vegetables but it is definitely true when it comes to your skin, nails and hair. Eating right and drinking water really helps the skin.

Step 2:
Exercise is another great health tip which improves the look of your skin as it does a lot for your circulation.

Step 3:
White teeth make anyone’s skin look great as they attract attention towards your mouth and away from your imperfections. You don’t need to spend a lot of money, buy some white strips or a great toothpaste that will whiten your teeth, no matter whether they are straight or not whitened teeth make you look healthy and more attractive. No one cares if they aren’t straight but it is nice for then to look clean and healthy.

Step 4:
Groom your eyebrows. The first time you do it go to a brow bar and get it done. The first time may cost you but after that you can pluck them yourself and stick to the shape. The brow bar can suggest a shape for your face. Groomed eyebrows frame the face and there is a reason some of the most beautiful women like Audrey Hepburn made such a focus on there eyebrows.

Step 5:
Keep your face and body moisturised, wether you choose to use a facial oil or moisturiser then make sure you cleanse thoroughly and moisturise twice a day. Don’t use any products that leave your skin tight and red afterwards.

And finally if you want to cheat and look really great a moisturiser with a hint of fake tan evens the skin tone and gives you a luminous look you can pretend you have all the time! But really that is cheating!

Clarins Skincare Haul

Clarins Skincare haul

For those of you who follow my blog, you will know that I recently went on holiday to Turkey. Whilst I was there I thought I would take advantage of the duty-free shopping in the airport. Above in the rubbish phone photo you can see what I got as part of the travel kit one of the moisturisers I bought separately and missing from the photo is the Clarins Hand And Nail Cream which I am loving.

I thought I would go through which of the products I love and why and the ones I recommend!

Bottom centre: Clarins One Step Facial Cleanser- this facial cleanser I do use anyway and I really love it. It is about 20 GBP to buy separately but it is really worth it. It takes of all of your make up off as it is oil based and it also cleanses and tones at the same time. I am quite lazy in the morning before work with my skin care and I really like this product for that reason. In one step you are cleansed and toned!

Clarins Daily Energizer Lotion SPF15- This energizer is great for normal skin, it does what it says and really energizes you in the morning whilst keeping you moisturised but not oily throughout the day. I can wear this at the moment because my skin is drier than it normally is but when I am oily I don’t think I would be able to wear that moisturiser I think I would have to go back to a gel moisturiser.

Clarins Beauty Flash Balm- you get a travel size of this and I have loved this for years anyway so I do have a full sized one at home that conveniently had just run out. Apparently you should only use this product on special occasions so that your skin doesn’t get used to it. It is a radiance booster and primer in one and really makes you look amazing. It is the only primer with my oily skin where at the end of the night my make up is still perfect so I save it for really special nights out.

Clarins Eye Contour Gel- you get a small size of this gel and it is supposed to reduce dark circles ad puffiness which it definitely does and it has such a great light texture that you could wear make-up over. I am only 21 and don’t really need too much contouring so I don’t think I would buy it again, I think I would go for something a bit lighter but if you have a problem with puffy eyes my friend tried this who does and she found it worked really well!

Clarins Daily Energizer Gel- I went to Clarins and purchased the Daily Energizer Lotion because I felt the Hydra Quench Cream I got with the travel kit was quite thick and better for at night. Whilst I was there they gave me sample of the gel for cleansing which matches and so I have tried that. I really like this gel but I prefer the one-step because it is just so easy to remove make-up and it does everything in one step.

Clarins Hydra Quench Cream- Now this moisturiser is for normal to dry skin and is very moisturising and feels really luxurious on the skin. It doesn’t feel greasy and also doesn’t create too much oil on my skin. I think this moisturiser is perfect for someone with a drier skin and I have used it at night-time and have found my skin looks great when I wake up.

Clarins Moisture Rich Body Lotion- This is the only product I wouldn’t buy again. Everyone knows Clarins is expensive and I really like this body lotion but you do have to use quite a bit. Whilst it smells delicious and really does moisturise all day I have to use twice the amount of my normal moisturiser to be able to get it to spread and as a student I can’t keep on doing that!

So that was just a bit more on my skin care haul and what I thought of it. I wanted to show you exactly what I bought so sorry for the Iphone photo but at least you get the idea!

Products For Glowing Tanned Skin- Holiday Make Up

I am off on holiday tomorrow and I cannot wait. So in the spirit of all things holiday I thought I would share with you some of my favourite products. It is just a short post on the make-up I am taking with me on holiday as well as what sort of make-up I will be buying from duty-free.

What I am taking:

Nars Illuminator in Orgasm

Soleil Tan De Chanel Bronzer

Nars Blusher In Orgasm

Maxfactor Masterpiece Mascara

Laura Mercier Oil Free Tinted Moisturiser

Urban Decay Naked Pallette

Then there are a few products I will be buying from duty-free at the airport. I am hoping that there is a Clarins skin set with a cleanser, toner, moisturiser and the flash balm as I love Clarins skin care and would like to go back to using Clarins as I am getting bored with my skin routine which happens a lot! I am also going to be buying some YSL lipsticks perhaps a coral and a pink because they are moisturising and really pigmented and look great with a tan and without.

I am also going to treat myself to a perfume, depending on how much money I have left it could be Bottega Venetta or perhaps Jimmy Choo. Both of which I love.

What are your go to products for holiday?

Body Skincare Routine And Fake Tan (With Updated Skincare For Summer)

A lot of people have different routines for their body and some people are lucky enough to have hydrated skin so as not to have to do anything. I thought I would share with you what I do on a daily and weekly basis to make sure my skin is prepared for summer.

I usually have a bath once a week at the weekend where I have a full exfoliation of my body. I don’t really like body scrubs as I feel they are quite harsh to my skin. I usually use a muslin cloth in the bath with a great moisturising shower cream my favourite is the Johnsons Extra Rich Bodywash because the smell is absolutely amazing. I find this is enough for me to exfoliate my skin rather than using a body scrub which gets all over the bath. Post bath I add a thin layer of moisturiser all over. Usually I use my Jergens Cocoa Butter and I apply such a thin layer it wont affect my fake tan. I then go on to apply Xen Tan Dark Lotion to my entire body and I use a mitt to apply it. This tan is great as it lasts around 7-10 days so I only have to smell like mouldy biscuits once a week! Hurrah!

Usually I have one day a week where I really pamper myself which usually for me a friday night as I tend to go out on the saturday so I always feel great the next day. After I apply my fake tan I usually oil my hair with coconut oil as you can see in my earlier post.

On a daily basis I will shower every day and use the same shower cream in the shower and when I come out I usually use a moisturiser all over my body such as the Jergens one. Though sometimes I may use the Dove Summer Glow if I am feeling pale and didn’t use my usual fake tan at the weekend.

In terms of my face cleansing routine this changes all the time as I have really oily skin and struggle to find a routine that my skin doesnt get use to and start to dislike. Currently I am into face oils and have been trying Grapeseed oil as a moisturiser. Its great if you are prone to breakouts and it also absorbs really easily in to the skin. I personally find due to me being prone to red skin using a face oil with a gentle cleanser is much more effective for me at giving me a radiant glow and not aggravating my sensitive skin.

For cleanser and toner I am currently using the Clarins One-Step Facial Cleanser which I absolutely love, it makes my skin feel so hydrated but not greasy and goes great with a light layer of the grapeseed oil.

I am thinking of purchasing the Clarisonic Mia after hearing such great reviews on Youtube but im not too sure yet. So that could be making it into my routine soon.
